GARY FROST at age 16, 6'1", 160 lbs, 30" waist, 41" chest relaxed, 43 expanded, biceps. flexed 14". Gary has become a complete "fanatic" about training, and while at first his family was willing to leave the car on the street so he could use the garage as a gym, lately they have discouraged him from spend ing inordinate amounts of time on bodybuilding because they

feel there are other important ob-

jectives a young man should also consider, such as his school work. All to often young fellows who get enthusiastic about having a superior build, give it disproportionate emphasis in their lives,. and this is just as great a mistake

as body neglect. Try to strike a

happy balance.

California Models Box 285, San Francisco Calif offer a catalog

of Frost for $1, 8 photos $2.

DO PICTURES "SPEAK FOR THEMSELVES?" In several court cases we heard recently in California, we heard supposedly intelligent judges make the inane pronouncement "Pictures speak for themselves." Indeed, pictures have no "tongue", but rather only (sometimes) recognizable symbols. To assume one "knows the intent" of the artist or photographer can often be to mistakenly assume that one's own subjective reasoning is an absolute standard that others must follow. Psychologists can learn much of our personalities by giving us the famous Roscher ink blot test. Each individual will see a different form in the blotch of ink. If you find a person who finds the work in an art gallery or the pictures in a book such as this "suggestive" you can be certain that man is attempting to infer a pruriency never intended in an attempt to hide his own troubled, often psychotic personality. The wholesome, well-adjusted person sees only the beauty in all things, "WHAT IS "OBSCENE" Amateur photographers and others are constantly asking us to define what local and federal officials consider objectionable and what is "allowable" in relation to physique photography. The fact is that rarely will two officials have exactly the same interpretation. A high postal official in Washington told one photo group that even pictures posed in beach trunks would be seized as obscene matter if found in third class mail. Such officials of course are quite frustrated when powerful magazines such as Time, Look, Life, Popular Photography and others carry photos displaying far more, but for the most part these officials prefer to persecute just those who havent. the money to defend their rights in the high appellate courts. It is our opinion that such petty prosecutions are often undertaken only to cover up disgraceful graft, political patronage, and other forms of shameful behaviour which might result in a fairly complete governmental housecleaning if the public's attention were not diverted elsewhere.
